Do I fit in my life?

Age 28-37

I built this life. Do I still fit into it?

Maybe you’re building a career. Maybe you’re building a family. Maybe you’re building a business, a home, a relationship, a community or some combination of all of it.

There are probably a lot of people and responsibilities relying on you. That comes with all the opinions and judgements too.

You’ve gotten really good at handling it.
You remember the appointments.
You answer the messages.
You show up.
You keep things moving.
You know who needs what.

You may love the life you’re building.

So why does it sometimes feel like you're disappearing inside it?

You might find yourself:

  • second-guessing decisions you were completely comfortable with until someone questioned them
  • saying yes because it’s easier than dealing with someone’s disappointment
  • carrying everyone else’s emotions while barely having space for your own
  • feeling guilty when you want something that doesn’t fit neatly into everyone else’s expectations
  • looking at parts of your life and thinking, “I chose this. So why don’t I feel like myself in it?”
  • realizing some of your old ways of coping, communicating or keeping the peace aren’t working anymore
  • getting tired of explaining or defending choices that are yours to make

You’re not necessarily looking to change your life.
You just don’t want to keep living it as though everyone else gets a say in who you are.
You’re just tired of feeling like everyone gets a piece of you and you’re the one left with the scraps.

When did everyone else's needs start taking up so much room in your life?
